Seattle has some beutiful green space. Today we walked through the Japanese Garden with our great friend Katie May, who is visiting from Milwaukee. Today was a wonderful example of how much we love the PNW!
Quick trip to Chicagoland was so worth the hassle. Amazing evening last night and today with the GE GLBTA Alliance members at the regional meeting. Incredible internal and external speakers talking about start-ups, diversity, transforming culture. It was an honored to facilitate a panel of transgender and bi-sexual employees, speaking about how the challenges they face are similar and different from the gays, lesbians, queers, and straight allies. #geglbta #gehealthcare #ge #outandproud
I just had the most fascinating conversation with two evangelical pastors, while I was killing time during my 2 hr (and counting) flight delay. It was a respectful conversation with compassion. The lesson I ask you all to take from this is ... have compassion for those not like you. Talk and educate and don't assume people hate based on a label. Thank you Chris and Brian. It was an absolute pleasure to talk with you this evening. I will watch your CD with an open mind and heart.
Another awesome Southwest experience ... and I got another pin as a gift from a flight attendant. She shared with me that a Southwest employee was shot twice (survived) in Orlando at Pulse. The company made these pins to show their support for her recovery. Nice to see they treat their employees like they treat their customers, with love. 💜💙💚💛❤️
It's an early morning waiting for my flight home, reflecting on the day ahead. Today is my mom's birthday. It's rather strange that later in the day, I'll be going to the Dr for my own check-up regarding the disease that killed her. I continue to fight the odds and do my part to manage this disease in my own body. Here's to hoping I get good news today and learn that the steps I'm taking continue to show progress #missyoumom #findacure #breastcancer#iwillnotgiveup
This evening I got to meet Team Phoenix 2016. It was so wonderful to see my TP Family. I miss them dearly.
I also miss being part of the TP Volunteer program. These ladies certainly made MKE a great place. Love ya'll so much! I went to practice, bike riding night. Then we found a mexican place that could handle a group and had a few drinks and some grub. I am totally digging SWA these days! Have had the BEST flight attendants this past week (5 flights). The rainbow heart pin 🌈 ❤️ (on my backpack strap) was a gift from my Orlando based flight attendant when we got off the plane today. Of course, I gave her a GE breast cancer pin in return. One of the other flight attendants on the flight is battling breast cancer and we talked about nutrition and supplements for nearly an hour. The woman in the picture is the baggage services rep who wanted this pic to post on the local SWA love site. I am feeling lots of love for you SWA!
There are few yearly traditions I look forward to more than the Worth Family 4th of July Pig Roast. It's always an amazing weekend in Kelso, WA. Here's a snapshot of this years "Liberals from Seattle" ... makes for a pretty good John Deer promo, eh?
WOW! What an amazing day yesterday. Thank you to everyone for all of the amazing messages for my birthday. I'm still reading through them all ... I am so blessed to have so many amazing friends and family.
I also want to thank everyone who contributed to the book Heather made me for my birthday. She gave it to me at dinner and I was so moved. I still haven't been able to read through it all, but I am already overwhelmed by the amazing messages and wonderful memories. For those of you Heather wasn't able to connect with, she made me a book with pictures and stories from family and friends about how I have touched peoples lives. It's a book to help me get through the tough times on my medical journey. If you weren't able to get something in before she went to print or if she wasn't able to reach you, it's not too late. You can still connect with her @ hdooley@gmail.com Thank you again for another amazing year in this journey we call life. So far, 44 is looking pretty awesome ... and Pride Weekend started today.
